S&E Attorney Part of Training Delegation for Lawyers and Judges in Democratic Republic of Congo

Schubert & Evans P.C. regularly supports worthy pro bono causes. As part of that commitment, David J. Schubert recently travelled to Bukavu, Democratic Republic of Congo as a member of a 4 attorney delegation of lawyers sponsored by African Leadership and Reconciliation Ministries and participated in a three-day seminar on peacebuilding, conflict resolution techniques and servant leadership for approximately 40 Congolese lawyers, judges and a journalist. The three day program focused on the critical leadership role that lawyers can play in bringing about reconciliation, integrity, and healing to communities that have been impacted by civil war, racial and tribal conflict, and corrupt government structures and processes. The program included interactive lectures on communication skills, the role of apology and forgiveness, conflict resolution principles, and principles of servant leadership, with practical break out sessions in which the attendees shared their personal experiences and tackled some of the more difficult questions that they regularly face in their roles as judges and lawyers in the DRC.
